The California Early Childhood Online (CECO) (https://www.caearlychildhoodonline.org/), funded by the California Department of Social Services, in partnership with WestEd, is offering modules on caring for young children from birth to five. Certificates of completion are available for each module. The module series, available in English and Spanish, includes the following topics:

  • The Powerful Role of Play in Education
    This three module series offer information for teachers and administrators on supporting a play-based curriculum and supporting social and emotional development.
  • Responsive Early Education for Young Children and Families Experiencing Homelessness
    Across the nation, young children under the age of six are more likely to experience homelessness than any other age group. This three module series provides information and strategies in order to respond effectively to the needs of young children and families experiencing homelessness.
  • The Dual Language Learner Series
    This is part of the CPIN Online Module series, a five module series funded by the Dual Language Learner Professional Development Grant. These modules focus on how you can use the Dual Language Virtual Learning Classroom and other resources to support young dual language learners and covers special topic areas such as math and social-emotional development. Dual Language Virtual Classroom The virtual classroom provides video examples of how early childhood professionals can support the full and effective participation of young dual language learners and how evidence-based strategies can be applied in the real world.
